Mike Eldard’s journey in the automotive aftermarket began at the age of 16, working in an auto parts store where his drive and leadership quickly set him apart. By 17, while still in high school, he had been promoted to assistant manager, and by 19, he was managing his own store. In 1983, Mike transitioned into sales with Moog, beginning a long and impactful career in the aftermarket.

Throughout his career—including his time at Akebono—Mike became known as a strong advocate for premium brands across the industry, regardless of product category. He built lasting relationships not only with customers, but also with peers across the aftermarket, earning widespread respect for his integrity, collaboration, and deep industry knowledge.

During his tenure at Akebono, Mike played an important role in supporting the company’s aftermarket growth, strengthening customer relationships, and representing the Akebono brand with professionalism and credibility across the industry.

“Mike’s contributions to the automotive aftermarket and the relationships he built throughout his career have made a lasting impact,” said Tommy Rivera, Director of Aftermarket. “His professionalism, industry knowledge, and passion for supporting customers and partners will be greatly missed. We thank Mike for his years of service and wish him all the best in retirement.”

In conjunction with this transition, Akebono announces Erick Kinnunen as National Sales Manager. In this role, Kinnunen will lead national sales initiatives and continue to strengthen Akebono’s presence across the aftermarket channel.
