FARMINGTON HILLS, Mich., Feb. 19, 2004
Akebono Corporation, North America's leading supplier of advanced brake technology, today announced that it is launching the Akebono Premium Disc Brake Pads™ friction line in March with 116 part numbers, covering a wide range of both late-model import and popular domestic vehicles.
Akebono Premium Disc Brake Pads feature the company's innovative ceramic friction technology, designed to provide superior quiet, smooth braking performance in a variety of driving conditions. Akebono ceramic formulations feature up to 20 separate raw materials carefully formulated and tested to address brake noise, vibration and harshness (NVH) - the automotive industry's No. 1 warranty issue.
The Akebono Premium Disc Brake Pads line evolved from the company's exclusive Akebono Import Specialist Disc (ISD) line of ceramic friction materials. It features both existing import and recently released domestic model part numbers. A new comprehensive Akebono Premium Disc Brake Pads catalog and package will be available in March. Additional part numbers will be added during the course of the year.
Motorists who want to maintain OE brake performance or upgrade to the best available ceramic brake pad on the market should still choose Akebono ProACT? ultra-premium ceramic disc pads. Akebono originated the ultra-premium aftermarket friction category with the introduction of the ProACT line in 2001 and currently demonstrates unrivaled performance in this segment.
"We have developed advanced formulations in both the premium and ultra-premium ceramic friction categories to accommodate the needs of a growing number of motorists that demand smooth, quiet braking over the life of their vehicles," said Randy Mordue, director of aftermarket operations, Akebono Corporation, North America. "Our premium line is positioned for motorists who want a price-competitive ceramic solution without compromising Akebono quality."
Compared to competing brands in the ceramic category, Akebono Premium Disc Brake Pads feature improved durability; superior noise reduction; exceptional fade and recovery performance; less rotor wear; and reduced wheel dusting - all contributing to restored driver comfort and confidence.
