FARMINGTON HILLS, Mich., Sept. 25, 2003
Akebono Corporation, North America’s leading supplier of advanced brake technology, today announced its aftermarket division has completed another significant expansion of the ProACT™ ceramic disc brake pad line to cover even more of the popular domestic, Japanese and European vehicles.
A total of 40 new part numbers have been added over the past three months. These numbers add application coverage to more than 100 vehicles from the 1988-2004 model years. All of the part numbers can be found in the 2003 ProACT Application Catalog (PRO 109 0603), which was recently distributed to Akebono customers (distributors, jobbers and installers). The new catalog features a total of 230 ProACT brake pad and 420 ProACT caliper part numbers -- a significant increase compared to the 2002 edition.
“Technicians and countermen around the country continue to rave about the quality of Akebono’s ProACT products that make customers happy and eliminate comebacks,” said Ken Selinger, Akebono Marketing and Product Development Manager. “We continue to expand ProACT coverage with popular late model applications, which helps technicians restore their customers’ OE brake performance or provide an upgrade from traditional brake pads. The development and release of new parts will continue.”
According to a recent, independently conducted survey of installers whose shops offer ProACT ceramic brake technology, installers rated ProACT superior versus other pads in controlling noise, reducing vibration, providing extended durability and delivering cleaner wheels. All of these items have a dramatic positive effect on customer satisfaction and eliminating customer comebacks.
“Once ProACT ceramic pads are installed, motorists quickly realize they made a smart choice,” Selinger said. “ProACT brake pads deliver measurable performance enhancements in the critical areas of NVH control, pedal feel and vehicle control, including panic stops. This leads to superior control, driving comfort, confidence and safety.”
ProACT ceramic disc brake pad part numbers released this summer include the following vehicle applications:
